Privacy Policy
This policy describes the types of information RoofRay collects from its users of the RoofRay Web site at www.roofray.com and how that information is used.
Information We Collect
When you use RoofRay, we collect a variety of information.
- When using our site and services, you may provide information about yourself, such as name, address, and e-mail. This may occur when you register on RoofRay or complete other forms. We may combine this information with other information we collect from your activity on our Web site or from other companies.
- We log your IP address in order to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Web site and track usage statistics. Your IP address may vary each time you visit, or it may be the same, depending on whether you access our site through an always-on type of Internet connection (e.g., cable modem or DSL), or through a dial-up connection (e.g., AOL or Earthlink), as well as where you connect from (e.g. wifi hotspot or friends computer). Either way, it would be extremely difficult for us to identify you through your IP address, and we do not try to do so. If you reached our site by clicking on a link or advertisement on another site, then we also log that information called a -Y´referrer log¡. This helps us maximize our Internet exposure, and understand our users' interests. All of this information is collected and used only in the aggregate; that is, it is entered into our database, where we can use it to generate overall reports on our visitors, but not individual reports that identify you personally.
- We also place a small text file called a "cookie" on your computer's hard drive. A cookie may contain information that allows us to track your path through our Web site and to determine whether you have visited us before. However, unless you register with us, it contains no personally identifiable information that would allow us to identify you. Cookies are also very useful for maintaining ´state¡. Simply put, that means, if you leave and come back, much of what you’ve done will still be intact so you don’t have to redo it. Cookies cannot be used to read data off of your hard drive, and cannot retrieve information from any other cookies created by other Web sites. We use cookies in this manner to help us understand how visitors use our site, and to help us to improve our site. You may refuse to accept a cookie from us by following the procedures specific to your Web browser. Although you may do so, you may find that your browser reacts strangely when visiting not only our Web site, but other Web sites as well. Since cookies don't provide us with any information from which we can identify you, we suggest you allow us to place one on your computer.
- We may use Web beacons on our site or other sites and may permit third parties to place them on our site to monitor the effectiveness of advertising or for other legitimate purposes. A Web beacon is a small, graphic image on a Web page, Web-based document or in an e-mail message that is designed to allow the site owner or a third party to monitor who is visiting a site. Web beacons are often invisible to the user because they are typically very small (only 1-by-1 pixel) and the same color as the background of the Web page, document or e-mail message. Web beacons are represented as HTML IMG tags in the Web page; users can click on "view profiles" of the Web page to see whether the page is using a Web beacon. Web beacons collect the IP address of the computer that the Web beacon is sent to, the URL of the page the Web beacon comes from and the time it was viewed. Web beacons can also be linked to personal information. For example, advertising networks use Web bugs to add information to a personal profile of what sites a person is visiting and to determine what banner ads to display based on the profile. Another use of Web bugs is to provide an independent accounting of how many people have visited a particular Web site. Web bugs are also used to gather statistics about Web browser usage at different places on the Internet.
Usage and Disclosure
We will only share personal information that you provide outside the public areas of our services in the following circumstances:
- Consent: When you consent or direct RoofRay to share the information. For example, if you choose to contact a solar installer through RoofRay, your name and e-mail address will appear to the recipient of the message.
- Service providers to RoofRay: In the event RoofRay should hire a service provider to help operate some of the services or our business, RoofRay may give access to personal data only as necessary to perform the service for RoofRay, and subject to the terms of this privacy policy.
- Legal obligation or protection from harm. When RoofRay has a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the personal information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any requirement of law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce or investigate a potential violation of the Terms of Use, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise respond to fraud, security or technical concerns, or (d) protect the rights, property, or safety of RoofRay, its users, or the public against harm.
- Merger or sale. When and if RoofRay is involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its business, personal information may be transferred along with the business.
When you provide public information without identifying yourself, we will protect your personal identity as described above. If your account profile does not identify you personally, RoofRay won't reveal your identity to third parties except in accordance with this policy.
When we deliver ads based on that data about your use of RoofRay, we keep your identity anonymous. We won't identify you personally to third parties, except in accordance with this privacy policy. Of course, if you choose to respond to an advertised offer with your name and contact information, you will no longer be anonymous to the advertiser.
Some Things are Not Covered
This privacy policy will not apply to the following:
- Public posting: You should keep in mind that the information that you choose to provide in a public area of RoofRay and our services (such as roof surfaces) will not be protected by this privacy policy because you have made an active choice to make that information public.
- Aggregated non-personal information and other information without personal identification: While we do not share your personal information with third parties unless permitted above, RoofRay may share aggregate anonymous information with third-parties. This information does not personally identify individuals, but instead provides a helpful understanding of the groups of people who prefer certain types of information and services.
E-mail Management
If you have an account with RoofRay, we may use your e-mail address to correspond with you and provide information about your account and our services.
Third-party ad servers and ad networks
Use of these technologies by third-party ad servers is subject to their own privacy policies and is not covered by our privacy policy.
Third-Party Web Sites
Throughout RoofRay, we may link to the Web sites of other companies and/or individuals. These third-party Web sites may collect personal information about users on those Web sites, and RoofRay’s privacy policy does not extend to these external Web sites and third parties. Please refer directly to these third parties and Web sites regarding their privacy policies.
Storage and Security of Information
Personal information will be processed and stored by RoofRay in databases hosted in the United States. RoofRay has taken reasonable steps to protect the information users share with us, including, but not limited to, setup of processes, equipment and software to avoid unauthorized access or disclosure of this information.
